Pathetic Powerful and Terminally Single....A Smoothie Recipe

I am in awe of churches that abound in groups dedicated to the success of married couples. There are classes and gatherings and bible studies filled with opportunity….but what about the others? The rest of the adults that ironically don’t go home with a partner and have no support whilst drowning their sorrows looking for Gods promise? The terminally lonely and apparently class less group. What about them?? My hairdresser actually said her friend tithes an extra amount for a husband…I didn’t know you could do that…buy a dude from God…..and these ladies were actually fasting for husbands….let me repeat that….giving up food in hopes that a man will drop on their empty dinner plates…Now that’s absurd. Like I draw the line.

If you are like most women out there man hunting, you already devote a large part of your day to thinking about it. You don’t need a reminder. You spend money on shoes that make you taller, hair color that makes you appear more sun kissed, or in my case, younger, facials to make you flawless and there is an entire industry devoted to your eyebrows…and I bet more than one lady has fallen to her knees regularly begging God to bring her a man that he has hand crafted just for her, and NOW we are giving up dinner and forgetting that we may already be mothers or leaders or lady bosses or artists??

Clearly I don’t have a husband. I am not bitter, I am well loved. I am blessed and I know it. But in moments like those on Sunday morning when I feel excused from something I have deeply wanted, I get sad for a minute, and then I think of my garden or the laughter amongst friends at dinner or the success of my children and the promise that if I continue to reach beyond myself love will be there. Class or no class.

Ingredients

2 whole pears
1 whole lemon
1/2 bunch parsley
1 cup unfiltered apple juice
water

Directions

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender until liquid. Dilute with water to taste. Place in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. It will last 3-4 days. Best if you warm your juice or dilute with warm water when you want to drink it. If this is your path then hold off on adding water to the blender. You can add lots of options like ginger, nutmeg, cardamom cayenne, fennel. I’ve also added cucumber, spinach, mint and cilantro.
